Juvenile Pacific Wren

./20160902_20150902_150619_T15_1137.jpg

It took quite a while for me to photograph this tiny, fast moving little bird. t is a juvenile Pacific Wren that has retained it's bright yellow gape external link typical of nestlings. This makes it easier for parents to feed them. As it grows a little older, it will lose that wide, brightly colored mouth and achieve an adult's bill.

The Ravens I saw in Alaska seemed huge when seen up close. Sadly, I only got a few usable photos of this great bird, because they only came close when I didn't have a camera. Go figure.

This is one of my rare photos of a Common Raven in Alaska.
