The sand appeared very somber that day, under a gray sky that threatened rain. A slight breeze off the ocean shifted the peaks almost impercetably. The only sound was a low surf.

The wall was a faded and dirty white that seemed gray that afternoon. Cracked with unpatched gaps through which a weed grew. One ond pipe lay exposed, at one time perhaps wrapped in a rag.

The car was parked at a meter with only five minutes remaining. Rain and heavy traffic may have delayed return to what likely would become a parking ticket. A perfect choice for a car color on such a day.
