A full sized statue of a giraffe stood behind the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Davis, California. The statue was created by Jean Van Keuren who also created the giraffe bench in front of the Regal Theater .

The full sized giraffe statue stood very tall when compared to the floors of the hotel behind it.

The Giraffe statue's hooves rested on an oval of dirt. Two lights were embedded inside the dirt oval to illuminate the giraffe at night.

The spots on the giraffe's body were created by overlaying orange clay on top of the white body.

The face of the giraffe statue looked directly at the camera and appeared to warn the photographer to stay back.
