The statue of Willie McCovey was not next to the ball park, but rather across McCovey Cove and at the end of McCovey Point located in the small park named McCovey Point Park.

The statue's location was very scenic with the San Francisco Bay and sailboats behind, and located directly on top of the Bay Trail.

The statue of Willie McCovey was posed as if having just hit a long fly ball deep into the heart of San Francisco.

A sign on the base of the statue read:

The statue was placed so as to always face the southern sunlight.
