![]() A sign on the sculpture read, The Flaming Lotus Girls are a San Francisco-based volunteer organization creating large scale works of interactive art. FLG combines sculpture, kinetics, robotics, pyrotechnics and electronics to inspire and invite viewers into an environment of participation. Members of FLG are empowered to learn new skills and become cooperative, experienced artists within a fluid organizational structure that emphasizes creativity, education, volunteer contribution & leadership opportunities. All volunteers are welcome.

![]() Here was the sculpture in context with its surroundings. Off to the far left was the entrance to pier 14. To the right was Herb Caen Way, the wide sidewalk alongside the Embarcadero. To the immediate left was San Francisco Bay.
