A medium sized sign was taped to the side of the judging booth. It listed the benefiting school, the events, and the sponsors.

A large sign announced the event. Just the other side of the sign were bleachers for watching the dogs perform.

Trees were in bloom atop the low hills near the end of the park. Notice the trolley wires for the N-Line just beyond the hill.

A man wearing a fringed short-sleeved denim jacket over vertically striped pants brought a black dog to the fair. The man paused to gaze at the boards displaying silent auction items.

Two greyhound dogs waited next to one of the many booths selling items along the north edge of the park.

A booth near the northeast corner of the park advertised a dog-friendly gym.

A man on all fours demonstrated that his dog could jump up onto his back. The dog stayed there for just a moment then jumped down. Several of those watching applauded.

A tarp laid down in the shade proved a good place to picnic. Just to the left was a booth selling food to eat, including burgers, vegi-burgers and desserts.

In addition to nourishing foods, deserts were also for sale. Here were cupcakes, but cookies, muffins and chips were also for sale. Everything (except the chips) was homemade and delicious.

A man in a dog-suit wandered the event, greeting children and adults and bringing smiles to all. Here, he had just entered the dog performance area. Lively music had just begun to play, so the man-dog began to dance.

A row of a dozen game booths had been set up to entertain kids. Here was a Roll-a-Rama booth where the object was to guide a ball through a maze on a tilting platform.

Raffle tickets were for sale. The first prize was a zeppelin ride. Notice in the background that the N-line stops at the entrance to the park.

The first contest was a costume contest. Here we show just the smaller contestants. But two huge black dogs were also in the running.

The second contest was a barking contest. One dog at a time came forward toward the judging stand and had to bark into a microphone. It was okay to motivate a bark any way reasonable. Here a treat was used. Others used voice commands. And yet another asked the audience to bark to motivate his dog.

Between contests was enough of a break to stretch and explore the silent auction.

A long table wrapped around a tree displayed the silent auction items offered. Here were gift baskets, but signed books and many other items were also available.

A wall labeled, "Awesome Stuff," was next to the silent auction table. This wall had four faces filled with items upon which to bid. For example, there were hotel stays, tickets for admission, and tours on this face of the wall.

The weather that day had been perfect for the event. The grass was dry and the air warm. Dogs and families dotted the hillside.
