A police command vehicle was parked on Belvedere just above Haight Street just in case of trouble. The only trouble witnessed was one man with a can of beer in a paper sack. He was asked by police to put it into the trash and he cheerfully complied.

One booth offered for sale veggie and other sorts of burgers, including the ever present garlic fries.

Strawberry Lemonade was for sale in another booth. The ingredients were combined in a yellow cocktail shaker and shaken, then poured into a chilled plastic glass. A thin slice of lemon and a thin slice of strawberry were then added.

Electric bubble guns were for sale. An unwrapped one was available to try. The guns were sold without batteries, but the booth also sold batteries.

As was typical of many street fairs, there were few places to sit to eat. Here, a family sat on the sidewalk to enjoy their fair-food meal.

A sequence of bands played on a stage set up at the Golden Gate Park end of Haight Street. Apartment residents leaned from second story windows to enjoy the music.

Protest signs were the exception rather than the rule. Here was a sign that read, "Mind The Flowers Flower The Mind."

Hand carved bobble head figures were for sale at a booth. In addition to those shown here, bobble headed birds and an octopus hung from strings overhead.

Many food stalls offered grilled or barbecued food. This one featured sausages. Others featured corn on the cob, beef tri-tips, and chicken. Because of these booths, the air was filled with smoke at some intersections.

A sugar cane pressing machine was used to create glasses of sugar water for sale. The sugar water was offered in a variety of flavors. Just below this machine and out of camera sight was a garbage can filled to overflowing with spent crushed cane.

Plates of food were also for sale. Here was a booth that had just sold a rice and meat plate. The plates and food wrapping were mostly of paper so could be composted afterward.

One clothing booth was decorated overhead with a sequence of fancy Styrofoam skulls on sticks.

A dachshund on a leash was walked through the fair wearing a hippie-style tie-dyed shirt and a bandana with marijuana leaves as the design.

Another booth sold scarfs that featured a face at one end.

A booth that sold cups and pots of hot tea had set up an area rug and furniture so that tea could be enjoyed in comfort.

There was no shortage of varieties of food to enjoy. This one booth, for example, sold everything from a Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl to a Hot Link.

A couple in a second floor apartment created bubbles that floated down and among the crowds on the street. Here was a particularly successful run of bubbles.

An unusual booth was one that sold wrestling masks and wrestling themed t-shirts.

Several folk watched the fair from the roof of a store.

A sequence of bands performed acoustically on the sidewalk just around the corner from the fair, on Belvedere Street.
