Here, both a positive and a negative replica of a man's bust were created using a 3D printer that etched away material rather than building it up. A rotating burr under computer control slowly cut away what did not belong to reveal the face that had been always there.

The image of a stage coach had been etched into a plank of wood. Note, how the coach can be seen between the spokes of its wheels. A hand-tooled image created using non-human hands.

A delicate chair was created by a 3D printer that deposited layer upon layer of melted plastic. Here, colored plastic was mixed to form brown. The print head moved sideways, and the platform under the chair moved front to back.
