The turtles, after they hatched, where kept in a washtub until the moonlight was right to release them. Although this appears to be a flash photo, it was not. Flashes were forbidden.

The turtles were quite active that night. Those with hands clean of sunscreen and bug spray were allowed to hold a turtle briefly.
