The early part of the road in, passed culvert pipes that had not been installed yet to keep the roadway dry.

The road in was curved, but so was the river. This caused the road to cross the river a dozen times.

Most of the roads in Nicaragua were paved using paving bricks. Here was a patch of that paving just ahead of the river. This photograph was taken off the back of the truck.

The road in went up and down, slowed and stopped and occasionally moved violently over a rough patch of road or rocks. As a consequence, everyone on the truck held on tightly.

The river slowed and widened as it neared the beach. Here the road crossing was very shallow. Notice the cow walking away on the far shoreline.

A sign that read, "Playa Hermosa Surf Camp," appeared alongside the roadway and indicated we were almost there.
