This market was originally built in 1891, destroyed by fires in 1966 and 1978, and rebuilt in 1997.

Locals and tourists both shopped at this market place.

Covered walkways and small shops lined the inside. Here, for example, was "Raspados" Gaby.

Among the snacks for sale were thins slices of coconut and dried mango slices.

Some of the shops opened into the interior open area.

Hammocks hung in one area created a colorful look.
