The Oregon Zoo Railroad was idle for the winter. Despite enclosed cars, the train ride was closed for the winter.

The train was modeled after the Amtrak Empire Builder route to Chicago. One of the cars was a vista liner with an elevated viewing area.

One of the few grade crossings along the route. Red and white striped gates could lower to prevent folks from walking through, on their way to the petting zoo, ahead of the speeding train.
