A sign in downtown Salem, Oregon indicated a person's present location, as well as sights in the surrounding town. The sign read, "You Are Here. Welcome to Downtown Salem." The sign oddly indicated parking structures (the gold P inside a black circle) to a pedestrian. Also please notice that many of the streets in downtown Salem were one-way streets.

Mature trees were a common sight, with shade provided to protect those walking on the sidewalk. Leaves on the ground showed this was autumn.

One of those rare locations that could both illustrate the intersection of Church and State, as well as the separation between Church and State. State Street ran one way east, while Church Street ran both ways, north and south. The red hand meant to not cross Church.
