![]() To the left was wetlands as a part of flood control. To the right was a small forest. In the distance was the town of Salem, Oregon. The path itself was paved and shaded by the forest.

![]() Many bicycles used the path. Most were friendly and polite when passing a pedestrian. From behind many would yell, "On your left!" A few would just rudely pass in silence. A few used polite bells.

![]() At intervals, a map on a permanent stand would show, "You are here." This sign was accompanied by two porta-potties.

![]() A long stretch of the path was shaded. A welcome relief on a day that would hit the mid 90's that afternoon.

![]() A peaceful and quiet walk along a path through a scenic forest. But for the rare rude bicyclist, the entire walk was pastoral.

![]() A black lagoon lay just off the path. Lacking only a man in an ill-fitting costume this lagoon could become a B-grade movie location.

![]() The path ran along the right and was lower than the road. The road was entry to a parking lot at the south end of the park.
