Around behind the Nature Center were cages holding birds. The cages held mostly raptors native to the area.

The area in which the exhibits were located was basically coastal desert. Here were native plants with a sculpture behind. The sculpture was the centerpiece for a children's play area.

The signs describing the sharks and rays were in English and Spanish. One could both look down from above, as well as looking below water from the windows located at intervals around the sides. From above, one could watch the rays and touch them when they surfaced. The skin of the rays felt like velvet.

Educational signs were all around the tanks and on the walls of the exhibit. Here was a sample of one such sign. It described how the defenses of sharks differed from the defenses of rays. The signs were all in both English and Spanish.
