A sign next to the boat launch ramp described the ways to clean, drain and dry your boat to prevent its launch from introducing non-native species to the river.

The boat launch ramp was a simple slope of asphalt angled down into the river.

A picnic table was on a scenic hill next to the river and shaded by mature trees.

The parking lot was wide enough for a long RV to make a safe u-turn.

One sign labeled this facility as, "Umpqua Wayside." Another was called, "Courtesy Guide," and listed the activities that were allowed and forbidden at the site. A third sign described the history of Brandy Bar in the river behind the sign.

The shallow part of the river was covered in late summer and populated with ducks. Later, in winter, the river would be higher and the bar concealed.

A tree had recently fallen into the river. The anthropomorphized interpretation was that the tree had leaned over to wash its leafy hair.
