A sign at the entrance to the lake notified the visitor that the lake's name was, "Lake Marie." The sign also indicated that a, "Lake Marie Trail, 1 Mile Loop" surrounded the lake.

A sign read, "Keep Oregon's Rivers Clean." Just below the sign were two PVC tubes into which you could, "Recycle your used fishing line and fishing tackle responsibly."

A box containing free dog poop bags was labeled, "Woof Waste Disposal" and "Please pick up after your pet."

A "Courtesy Guide" was posted at the entrance and listed the rule of conduct for visitors.

A sign identified a "Rhododendron (Rhododendron macrophyllum)." That sign also warned that, "Bees are immune to its poison but the honey can make you sick."

A sign identified a "Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata)" tree next to the trail. That sign also said that, "Indians stripped and pounded the soft, stringy bark to make clothing."

A sign identified a bush as, "Huckleberry (Vaccinium ovatum)." That sign also said that huckleberry was, "Protected from coastal acid soil by fungus growing around root tips."

Years ago someone had written on the sliced off part of a tree that bordered the trail around Lake Marie. Whatever the writing said, it may have begun with, "Ja."

Another sliced off log had writing on it too. This writing was newer and thus more legible. It read: "JMA + ALF + Baby Kash 7-22-15."
