A green hedge had been planted tightly against the back of a metal fence. The result, over time, was that the hedge began to grow out through the face of the fence.

This sort of fence resisted the normal attack of graffiti. Instead, someone wrote a small bit of graffiti on one of the cross members of the fence.

The fence, with its backing hedge, occupied the side of the sidewalk and was almost a full block long.
