 The breakwater was still under construction. Quepos was creating a brand new marnia and a large dock to handle cruise ships.

 A man stood atop one of the stone breakwaters that helped to protect the beaches and entry to the marina. That day was calm and warm. Signs that warned of danger intended to dissuade folks from walking on the breakwaters. But on such a placid day, there appeared little risk.

 People walked behind this breakwater and on the sand of the beach that these huge stones protected. This was just one side of the channel that led from the harbor and marina out to the Santa Barbara Channel and then to the Pacific Ocean.
