The San Francisco Transbay Transit Center extended from 1st Street almost all the way to 2nd Street. As anyone who had walked San Francisco would know, that is a "Market Street Block."

The first of many interior stairways were being constructed. One had already connected the ground floor to the floor above. Another was just a hole.

The ground floor looked as if it would be spacious with high ceilings.

A man walking, and a couple parked cars, gave scale to the scene. The San Francisco Transbay Transit Center would be a large and dramatic structure.

Workers on the structure give an even more dramatic feeling of the size of this building.

The end where buses will enter the San Francisco Transbay Transit Center was a flurry of activity. Complex freeway ramps were being built.

Someone with the initials DW left messages on the steel. One message read, "OK to leave, DW."
