The sign for this exhibit was mounted on the fence dividing the sidewalk from grass trees. That sign read in part: "Xanthorrhoea, commonly known as the Grass Tree, is a medium size tree with grass-like leaves, palm-like stems, and a spike of small white flowers. Native to eastern Australia, Grass Trees may grow only 3 feet in 100 years, and mature trees can be centuries old.

When young, this tree could easily be mistaken for native grass.

Six Grass Trees were planted alongside the path in the Rooftop Garden of the Salesforce Transbay Center. They were planted along with low flowering bushes which hid what little trunk the Grass Trees may of had.
