The sidewalks in León, Nicaragua were uneven and in poor repair. This particular section was at one time a handsome arrangement of colored tiles. But the tiles have broken away to allow dirt and grass to appear through the gaps. A utility cover was just a concreted slab with a wire handle.

The sidewalks in León, Nicaragua were not maintained and many had dangerous holes in them, each a pitfall for the unwary.

This section of sidewalk was dirt with a tree and small bush growing in that dirt. The yellow curb was higher than the sidewalk. The striped pole was a bonus.

The beachfront road had sidewalks on both sides of it. The sidewalks were much too narrow for such a popular location. This section of road was unusual for Nicaragua because it was paved with asphalt (often patched asphalt).
