The train station was across the road from the Santa Fe light-rail station and was surrounded by new condominium high-rises.

This garden was out in front of the station. It featured tiled benches, palm trees, and a fountain. A photographer was added for free.

The front entry on the south side between Kettner Boulevard and the railroad tracks. Notice the tinting on the overhead windows that served to keep the interior dim.

The exterior pre-boarding area. Because it is possible to check luggage with Amtrak, a red luggage cart stood by waiting for a train to arrive.

Despite the fact that the interior was one large room, the sign over this door said, "Novelties," and the sign over the next door to the left (unseen) said, "Waiting Area."

A ticket machine vended coach tickets for passengers who did not need to check luggage. Changed received could be used to purchase a newspaper.

The main "Waiting Room and Ticket Office" entry could be seen beyond the park with its fountain. A low chain link fence surrounded the property.

Two trains were stopped at the station. One was just disembarking. Here passengers had to walk the entire length of the platform to exit. Notice the red luggage cart hauling luggage.
