The sign for the π Exploratorim described two different activities. The first was the, "Bat Marimba"

Understanding the vibrational modes of the [bat]
and how one places the "node" or "sweet spot" is best

Tools you will use: Bat marimba and mallets

Activities: By tapping along the length of a
bat, detect the "sweet spot" with
little or no vibration"

Concepts Covered: The "node" transfers the
maximum amount of swing energy
back into the ball, making it [travel] the
furthest.

Baseballs of various types
-Major League
-Little League
-Teeballs
-Softballs

Folks were allowed to touch the backbone of a whale . A sign with pictures described where the whale had come from.

Another sign showed the weight of various common objets, such as a bowling ball and a baseball. The numbers were wieghts (mass) in grams.

Neuroscience "Pitching Nightmares"

Shift your sight by 15 degrees or so off center and take a swing.

Tools you will use: Foam core batter, beanbags and special glasses.

Activity: Wearing the special glasses try to throw strikes with beanbags.
