![]() Tourists and locals both paid the same and shared the same seats for the crossing. Most seats were wide enough for two people. A few bench seats sat up to five across.

![]() From the ferry dock it was a short walk inland to transportation. Andrew could be seen center left and loaded with luggage, looking right at a conversation between passenger and a guard. Towering in the background was a volcano.
