![]() A sign marked the entrance to the short walk. Note that access to the long walk was accessed by way of this short walk via branch on the right of the map. The distance around this small crater rim was 1.5km.

![]() A high level of moisture in the clouds and fog resulted in droplets forming on the ends of fern leaves.

![]() The ends of logs were used to pave parts of the path through the moist layer of forest. Unfortunately, log ends could become very slippery when wet. Although a few slipped, none fell.

![]() A side path ran through a crack in the wall of the crater caused by an earthquake. The sides of the path were barely a meter (a yard) across at the floor and widened gradually far overhead. Over the years, forest has almost overgrown the top of this wound.

![]() A fenced path ran alongside a cliff. Good thing the forest hid the drop from sight or this view might have been frightening. Note the slippery wet wood that formed the floor of this part of the path.

![]() As the path level dropped into a lower altitude the nature of the forest changed into a dry forest. More wild flowers were found at this altitude.

![]() On the upper part of another leaf was a large stink bug. This time the leaf was large. The stink bug was roughly 2.5 cm (1 inch) long.

![]() Underneath yet another leaf was a small green frog who hid during daylight hours. The guide held this leaf inverted so that this photograph could be taken.
