The entry to the Oakland and Richmond ferries was moved south down the Embarcadero to a new (albeit temporary) location. The new gates were indicated by a sign on the sidewalk.

A new bridge connected the sidewalk to the new gates. One had to mount wide stairs to access the bridge, or to travel left and take a disabled/elderly ramp.

The new gate G had a second bridge that connected the gate to the ferry platform.

A new sign showed which gate to use for which ferry route. A second sign showed the ferry schedules and fares. Note that one could either buy a ticket in the Ferry Building, or buy a ticket on board after departure. But the best way to pay was by using a Clipper card.

The new Gate F, which serviced ferries to Richmond and Harbor Bay, also had a bridge behind it connected to the ferry dock.

An historic photograph greeted folks disembarking from the Richmond ferry. The photograph showed the Bay Bridge under construction.

The new plaza and walkway, connecting the Ferry Building and Gate E to the new Gates F and G, was still under construction. Just bare pilings with nothing connecting them.
