Stairs led up to the new plaza. Begun in 2017 it took a few years to finish.

The edges of the new steps were fitted with anti-skate-board metal strips.

The hand rails next to the steps also were fitted with anti-skate-board clamps.

The new Ferry Building Plaza was spacious and provided a grand view of the bay and San Francisco end of the Bay Bridge.

Many benches, some facing in and some facing out, lined the edge of the new Ferry Building Plaza.

A design decorated the surface of the new Ferry Building Plaza. An orange line wiggled its way around the surface, locally reversing the black and white design.

A bronze plate decorated the surface of the new Ferry Building Plaza. It read: "Richmond Ferry Terminal."

Another, but larger, bronze plate also decorated the surface of the new Ferry Building Plaza. It read: "Port Of San Francisco, Downtown Ferry Terminal, San Francisco Bay Area, Water Emergency Transportation Authority."

Another small bronze plate was embedded in the floor of the new Ferry Building Plaza. It read: "Valleyjo Ferry Terminal."

A bronze ring was also embedded in the floor of the new Ferry Building Plaza. It read: "1942-2021 To The Memory Of Ann Halsted, Who Dedicated Her Life To Public Service And The Betterment Of The City And Waterfront."

Succulents decorated one corner of the new Ferry Building Plaza. A gull flew past just as this photograph was taken.
