![]() The entry to the campground was set back from Highway 1 about a quarter mile along a winding road from the beach. The ranger booth was unmanned.

![]() The entry road led in under a canopy of mature shade trees. Although camping required payment of a fee, use of the park and its trails was free.

![]() The system was to drive in and park in 15 minute parking just inside the entry. And then to walk back to this machine to pay for a camping spot. The prudent camper would, however, first drive through the campground and an verify a camping place was vacant.

![]() Behind the temporary parking was a waste discharge station. Clearance under the trees on the road in was high enough to allow RVs to pass.

![]() Camping place number 39 was available that morning. In addition to a flat area for a tent, this spot offered a picnic table and a fire can. Each camp spot had copious parking.

![]() A family with children ranging in ages from a baby up, were just unloading into a camp spot. Notice the cars could back into the camp space to make unloading much easier.

![]() Traffic signs, such as the one-way sign shown here, guided both cars to camp spots, and hikers and bicyclists toward the trailhead. In addition to central trash, there was also a central restroom with showers (not photographed).

![]() A huge RV was nestled into a campsite furthest from the beaches. Alghough it appeared to be nestled in trees, the effect was mostly the result of looking down at it from the hiking trail that led up into the Santa Monica Mountains.
