![]() In the winter, the tip of each branch becomes a flower. It is a bright red flower, hence its common name. This photo was taken in the late spring after the flowers had already bloomed and left.

![]() This plant was first imported into the UCSC Arboretum in 1994. It needs to be pruned, it decorative flowers cut during the winter, to keep the plant healthy and its growth under control.
