The chief attraction at this campsite was Dorena Lake (actually a reservoir). Some of these toys could be used to haul a kid across water behind a motor boat. For stronger folk, they could be hauled behind a canoe (less exciting, sure, but more relaxing for the rider).

A floating dock stood mostly empty with no connection to land. In the foreground a swim area offered protection while in the water. A floating trampoline was for rent.

The swimming hole was shallow and calm. It was a good place for children to swim safely. The water seen from this angle looked brown, but it was just the reflection of the dirt beyond. The water as actually fairly clear. The reservoir was losing water in preparation for the winter rains, hence the floating buoys that marked the swim area limit now lay mostly on land.

A complex and elaborate playground was available for younger kids. It featured four slides, two crawl tubes, stairs and ladders. The entire playground was surrounded by wood chips.

Here Denver and Brandon paddled a rented canoe around the lake, while Westley rode in the middle. Terry followed them in an hourly rented kayak. There were two flavors of kayak to rent, the sit-on kind and the sit-in kind.

A speedboat sped across the lake pulling an inflatable toy with two children aboard it. Notice that the tow line was attached to the bimini, which made it easier to access.

Signs warned about the dangers of blue-green algae. Other signs told boaters to always wear life jackets while on the water and to keep their boat hulls clean.

The concession stand not only sold food, snacks, and drinks, but it also was the place where you rented water-craft, paid for your campsite and parking, and generally the one stop for everything at the campground.

A parking lot was available to store boats on trailers. Here were three sailing sloops parked on their trailers and waiting for future adventures. There was also a separate parking lot for cars with empty trailers to use. And finally there was a parking lot for day-use cars to park. This campsite had no shortage of paved parking areas.
