While driving into the parking lot, two deer crossed the driveway. One of them paused in mid-stride for this portrait.

The entrance to Shore Acres State Park was constructed of white columns with roofs to protect from rain. The entrance appeared to lead into a dense forest, rather than into a dramatic garden.

Only one rule was posted outside the entrance.

This had less to do with pet dogs chasing deer, than with prohibiting non-service dogs from entrance to the garden. While we were there, the rangers found a woman with a non-service dog in the park and ejected her with her dog.
