The mural covered the boarded up front of a closed store on Market Street. A fire escape and trees cast shadows on the mural.

The mural was painted on the boards first and then the boards were installed. This order can be witnessed by observing the lack of precise registration where the boards join.

The red background for the mural helped to warm the area under the shade of sidewalk trees.

The shapes painted were purely abstract and did not resemble or suggest actual objects.
