A large mural was painted on the side of a building in downtown Springfield, Oregon. It faced a parking lot and was faded with age.

The them of the mural was painted in the lower left. It read:

In 1843, tales were told in the
East of a "Promised Land".
a wild and bountiful territory
on the far edge of the
continent.
The 2000 mile adventure
between there and here
was called the Oregon Trail.

The mural depicted many western themed designs and art.

A man on horseback blew a bugle to let other folks know that the wagon train was about to leave.

One of the wagons was pulled by three oxen.

Women walked and kids played as the wagon train began its westward trip.

A view ahead because the wagon train would soon encounter "Indians" with their homes.

A buffalo head and beads form a native American design on the wall.

A hug herd of thousands of buffalo filled a valley alongside the Oregon trail.

Two feathers formed a decoration on the wall.

When two cowboys and two native Americans met on the Oregon trail, storm clouds formed over distant hills.

Winter snow made travel much more difficult.

A flat plain lead through a gap in the hills.

Another image showed many people walking along the Oregon trail.

Two triangles showed views of the land alongside the Oregon trail.

Another triangle showed a river flowing through a valley between two cliffs.

Another triangle showed a lake with birds migrating over it.

Once into Oregon, a green valley was bordered by a forest and hills.

The leftmost end of the mural was decorated by a fish net pattern.

Near to the asphalt of the parking lot, was a native American design bordered by tribe names.
