A sign on a board near the entrance to the parking lot was titled, "Things to do on the Cottage Grove Ranger District." One sign offered old fire watch towers for rent, another sign advised you to, "Please pack it out."

One of the maps on the board by the parking lot entrance showed the path available for the Trestle Creek Trail.

Another map on the board near the entrance to the parking lot showed the Noonday Wagon Road Trail and Sultana Way.

The parking lot was made of gravel compacted into dirt. This shot was taken from one of the trail heads, looking back at the entrance with the road just beyond that.

Denver (left) and Brandon (right) made their way out one trail. This early part was level and easy to walk and paralleled the creek.

Brice Creek, near the parking lot, was extremely rocky. This shot was taken looking back at the road that crossed the creek over a bridge.

Oregon was experiencing an unusually dry and hotter than normal summer. As a consequence, campfires were prohibited inside all forests: national, state and county.
