The trail alongside Brice Creek was called "Brice Creek Trail." In parts of it, as seen here, moss had completely covered a tree branch.

The trail meandered through a dense forest. Here, for example, the underbrush was full and green.

Alongside the trail, we found a tangle of branches where almost every branch was covered in moss.

The trail itself was hard packed dirt cleared of underbrush and wide enough for three people to walk comfortably side by side.

A tree had to be cut to clear the path. Here was the wound on the side of that tree.

A sign nailed to a tree between the river and the trail. That sign read, "Valid Claim, No Mining, OMC#." Mining claims in Oregon are managed by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management.

The path did not run straight through the forest. Instead it ran in a snake like path, curving left then right, and finally left again.
