Although called a tree, it is actually a very tall, multi-stemmed shrub.

Smooth Stems

The stems were smooth and varied in color from a medium gray to almost charcoal.

Copious Leaves

This shrub grows in dry woodlands and forest edges and can reach 8 meters tall. Although the core stems were shaded and bare, the upper branches were full of leaves.

Older Leaves

The oldest leaves were near the bottom. They were large and a deep green, and were clearly shaded by the newer, upper leaves.

Upper Leaves

The upper leaves were a healthy light green, and the upper branches looked more like a tree than a shrub.

Oval Leaf

The leaf was a rounded oval in shape, coarsely double-toothed along its edge. The under part of the leaf felt fuzzy. The leafs were roughly 3 inches (8 cm.) long, and roughly 2 inches (5 cm.) wide.
